The year was 2090, and the once-great metropolis had been reduced to a mere shadow of its former self. The skyscrapers that pierced the sky like shards of glass were now nothing but rusting hulks, their neon signs flickering with a desperate attempt to hold on to a bygone era.

I navigated the narrow streets with ease, dodging holographic advertisements and cyber-merchants who peddled their wares like snake oil salesmen. The air was thick with the smell of smoke and ozone, and the distant hum of hover-drones provided a constant background noise. It was in this chaotic world that I had made my home, where the rules were different and the stakes were higher.

As I walked, the city seemed to stretch on forever, a labyrinthine maze of concrete and steel that swallowed me whole. But I knew its secrets, every alleyway and every backstreet. I was a ghost in the machine, a phantom who haunted the fringes of society with a purpose all my own.
